Did a little googling, but cam up dry. Does any build a 9mm 1911 with a officers frame and commander slide? I really want to try out a short framed 9mm 1911, but I would like at least a 4" barrel.

Thank You
Patrick Scott

Re: 9mm CCO, does it exsist?

Chambering a 1911 in 9mm is kinda like using a 4x4 truck for the sole purpose of driving to the grocery store. I'm sure somebody has at least hinted at the silliness of it...I think your recourse is a .38 Super, or maybe getting a STI double stack to feed .357 Sig. But seriously though, a 1911 is meant for .45 ACP, even the 10mm ones are semi-blasphemous.

Valid points about 9mm. I am a big fan of the 45 1911, I even own a 1918 manufactured one

I just want to try something different.

Yea I did not want to sound too preachy there Patrick. Glad you did get to read it though - I think the line of thought has merit.

I fingered the EMP and the little STi (Nomad is it??) side-side. The STi has more of a hideout feel than the EMP and really poor sights if you think the EMP has issues in that regard. The EMP feels to me like a scaled down 1911 without feeling like a mini-gun. I shot one on steel and paper and was immediately comfortable with it, the EMP. See if you can get some range time with one - it might surprise you.

I believe Caspian offers one. Most of the big name custom shops should be able to do it. Of you wanted to go down that road

Pat - I did some research in follow-up to the above info.

The pistol I held side-side with the EMP was the STi Rogue. More info on it here:

http://ezine.m1911.org/STIRogue_frame.htm

Per STi's web site, they do not have it listed anymore, so I do not know if they still make it. They do list a similar model though called the STi LS. More info here:

http://www.stiguns.com/guns/LS/LS.php

I just spoke with Jay at STi. Due to product line consolidation, STi discontinued the Rogue as it did not produce the numbers they were looking for out of it. They do have on hand the parts to build 10 more, so if you want one, let them know and they'll build it. There is also one in stock at my local retailer.

The big difference between the Rogue and the LS is the barrel design. The Rogue uses a traditional link, whereas the LS uses a linkless design.

You can get a NHC T3 in 9mm. It is an Officer model, but it features an extended magazine well that gives you the length you need to get all your fingers on the grip:

Horribly wrong....

Actually I would like to get a cheap beater 19 and try a grip reduction on it.

Re: 9mm CCO, does it exsist?

Black plastic, my weakness. If it make you guys feel any better I already tortured the poor little thing with a wood burner. The RTF2 grip is nice, but I wanted to address two small spots on it. Left frame flat and bottom of the trigger guard. I was pleased to find that it points and shoots well for me, not 1911 well, but very effectively for its intended role.

Re: 9mm CCO, does it exsist?

Bottom of trigger guard is one area a hate for me as well. Rubs the middle finger raw after shooting a bit. Also hate the block design, but don't want to try remods.
Sig 226, my choice.

Sorry to get off topic.
