wenatchee wa.
My brother and I were calling a large "bowl" of sage brush on a private ranch near omak wa. We picked a calling position near the base of a rocky outcropping mixed with sage. So we had our bases coverd if if something were to come it would have to expose itself in order to get down wind of us and our decoy. We called for about 25 minutes when I just glanced over my shoulder and up to the top of the rocks. I had to freeze. Here he was 200 yards straight above us and had us pegged. My rifle was three feet away from me and I had to wait until he looked left to make a quick move for the gun. In one quick move i grabed the Tikka .243 and put it to my shoulder lined him up in the crosshair exhaled and squeezed. He was hit in the right shoulder and a very small peice of frag came out near the left hip. He must have fell and rolled atleast 100 yards before he came to a dead stop. He's a good size male with an awesome pelt. I'd rather be lucky than good any day. Thanks for letting me share.

Re: A fun afternoon with a coyote.

Have you noticed that the coyotes from the scab lands in WA always seem to be darker? Almost a black on top, have nailed a couple that are even darker than the above, reminds me of German Shepard coloring....

You look like Frank Mir (UFC Heavyweight) in your photo.

Dog hunting is a blast, especially when it is successful!

Awesome!

Good looking 'yote you nailed there. Few things to me are more fun in the field than calling them in.

Wiley can be a sneaky little sucker sometimes. Not sneaky enough from the looks of it!

Nice job.

Re: A fun afternoon with a coyote.

Most of the dogs we get from the east side are very dark in color. it is a treat to get a real silver/white one. i do like the shades of red that come with the darker ones though. i just feel privlaged to have such high numbers and no harvest limit on these guys. They truly are my fave to hunt. Thanks again guys for the comments and oppurtunity to share. Hopefully i'll have more this winter to share. now all i need is the time off lol.
