Re: A little one from kansas, deer that is.

Location was in Wilson County closest to Altoona. Got the opportunity to hunt 80 acres surrounded by lease land that is not hunted.

The Glock: During the morning hunt I had a huge bodied 8 point walk in on me to my left at less than 15 yards. We shared a stare down for it seemed like minutes (less than 15 seconds I am sure) and then he bolted and ran out to the crest of the hill. Mind you I will be the first to admit I am no "Marksman" just an average guy. I whistled at him and got him to stop tail facing me with his head turned. I glassed him and miss judged the distance. Pisssss.... and a Miss. (Note to self buy range finder) So short story long I wasn't going to have one with in pistol range and not have a pistol during the evening hunt.

O must have some lacks laws there, we have to pick firearm of use and can only hunt with that, so I was thinking rifle for dear, and pistol for ??? but that makes sense now

Re: A little one from kansas, deer that is.

He had a 1.5 inch nub left on the right side the rest had broken off.

As far as ammo I had 115gr Sierra match king BTHP that I hand loaded a while back. Seemed to do the job. In on one side and exploded the lungs then only a frag out the ribcage on the other side but it didn't break past them.

It was not Bambi but was a young deer.

a lil more rough rubbing on the trees and thats a legal antlerless deer in SD. too bad you had to burn a buck tag. my very first antlerless youth deer at age 12 was the same way. 130y and when i got up there, had two 3" spikes.
