One of my buddies that hunts at our place caught the bug after borrowing some of our gear and decided to build a proper rifle. He went with a Craddock Precision 18” 22 ARC RTR for the heart of the rifle, an Odin Works upper/lower, Smoke Composites furniture, Geisselle 2 stage, and one of the KAK dual ejector down firing sand cutting bolts. I’m excited to see what it can do.

Craddock Precision put together a beautiful upper as always. Barrel looks great in and out. Smoke Furniture is perfect on the fit and finish. Looking forward to seeing/hearing that KAK bolt in action - I’m curious to see if it is a noticeable difference at the ear with a can on it.

Somewhat disappointed with the Odin Works receivers. First, it’s a rattle trap of a matched set. The lower measures .5025” at the front and rear vs .500” or less for Noveske, SOLGW et al. This was brought to their attention as they responded to a query before purchase that they maintained “tight tolerances”. They responded that they made them to be compatible with other uppers and lowers 😕. Apparently by maintaining tight tolerances what they meant was their intentional preferred gaping wide hole tolerances in case someone tries to mate up wildly out of spec crap. They said to snug up the set screw that interfaces with the rear pin. I personally find that insulting but luckily it isn’t my gun. I look forward to doing some real accuracy testing with my friend. I hope it drives tacks and is proven an academic concern.

But, to add insult to injury, we couldn’t finish building because they didn’t QC the f’n tiny screws for the ambi bolt catch unless someone can explain what I’m missing - see attached photo. One accepts a 1/16” hex, the other is very shallow and I can’t find a tools to drive it. Looks like they skipped a machining step. If anyone has an explanation as to what I’m missing, I’ll award you valuable bonus points.

Should have gone Noveske or SOLGW for the receiver set. Live and learn. Annoying to not be able to get it to 100%. I’m sure they will send out more screws but wtf at that price point.

One way or another, it’s coming in under 6lbs naked with a rifle buffer. Should kill many deer, pigs and yotes in time.
