Extra capacity for your Remington Versamax. Our September goose season rules state "no plugs required". This trick will expand your capacity by one. It ought to jam, but it doesn't. Check your local laws if you do this for hunting.

Is it me or is this "ghost load" something that has worked forever with all the Remington style shell lifters, not just this model or these guy's add on bits? I would swear I have been taught it on 870s, and it was a bonus feature over the 500/590 in that context.

Not that I have a Remington shotgun at hand to try, hence I do ask. Maybe my brain is failing me. Maybe it was some other gun?

I don't know about other guns, or how long this has been around. I was raised on an Ithaca pump. I graduated to doubles in my 40's. I just bought my first semi auto a couple of weeks ago. I've tried 2 3/4 & 3 1/2" shells in the versamax. Both run fine.

I find it a little easier to load the one in the chamber before the one on the lifter.
