Thomas Hudner, Jr. MOH was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery today. He wrote about his experiences in the book titled Devotion. Look up his biography on Wikipedia for an in-depth review of his life.
I don't think I have read "Devotion" but I remember reading about someone from Philips Academy who heard that speech... and also went on to great things. Certainly wasn't Stansfield Turner! I think it was someone from the OSS.
