I just got an aac sdn-6 and I got two adapters with it one for 5.56 and one for 7.62. The 7.62 mount locks up tight and does not move. The 5.56 mount seems like it is between grooves and has a lot of play in it. I know aac says this is ok but it scares me to shoot it on my m16 with that movement. I have ordered 2 more 5.56 mounts to try to see if they will lock up tight.

Anybody else ever run into this?

    Thanks

Yes, it's a common complaint, but easily remedied. The mating cone on the slant leading up to the teeth on the muzzle side near the large acme threads can be polished by spinning it while holding emery cloth against the mating surface. Takes about 20 minutes of careful polishing and testing to achieve a rock solid mate. Do a search, and more info on it will pop up. By the way, shooting 5.56 through a thirty cal can gives you plenty of room for a bit of slop. Mount the can and look down the bore - if you can't see the suppressor protruding into the bore (and you won't on a 5.56 if your threads are concentric) then you are good to go. The slop may degrade your accuracy a bit, but it doesn't affect the ability of the can to suppress. Again, it's an easy fix. I've tuned 5 so far, and it works great. I use some mandrels that I had made at a machine shop with 5/8x24 and 1/2x28 threads one one end and a shaft on the other, that enables me to chuck up a mount in the drill press so I can spin it against the emery cloth. One of the mounts was already pinned to an upper, though, but that just made it take a little longer.

Thanks. I have been sanding on that edge for 2 nights with 220 grit sandpaper using a small file to wrap the paper around. I can't seem to get enough material off. I have some diamond files showing up tomorrow that I will try. It just pisses me off to spend that much money on a can and the mounts be so inconsistent. I just ordered a new surefire solely because of the mount.

just shoot the gun. I have the same thing and I dont think on it much. The POI is repeatable and the mount works fine.I here that AAC will come out with a 90 tooth for the 556 mount next year.
