Hi rsilvers,

The comment Mike made about the 762-SDN-6 being quieter, does this apply only to the 300 AAC BLACKOUT or is he including 7.62mm applications? I understood that the 762-SDN-6 was quieter on the 300 BLK but several db louder on the 7.62mm.

Thanks,

Re: AAC 762-SDN

Naw, it is quieter on 308 also on every test I have seen. The reason why it is the same weight even though it is shorter is that it is beefier and can work on full auto 308 down to 13 or so inches. It also has less effect on the host firearm's bolt velocity. Because it is all Inconel inside, it is more expensive. It seems to be an upgrade in every way except it costs a bunch more.

Is that the 18t or 51t your ecstatic with? I bought (2) 18t 762SDs in April just before the "annoucement" of the 51t came out. Needless to say I'm not all that thrilled about getting the 18t suppressors now - especially with all the hit or miss concerns with the 18t mount.

Re: AAC 762-SDN

The 18T mount was the best silencer mount from any company until the 51T mount came out. I don't think it is hit or miss. I mean, thousands were made and I have seen maybe three reports on the internet of people needing a free replacement spring sent to them because the wire-form did not go into the grooves far enough. It is a very good mount.

Retail $1050, last I saw. Will be finalized after SHOT Show

It seems most of the negative ramblings came out around the time the 51t mount came to be - so don't know how that plays into the scheme of things. I have a couple different 18t mounts, so hopefully I can find a combo that works best between one of the cans and a particular mount. These will be dedicated to one system each, so I won't be swapping the cans between rifles, perhaps that's where some of the issues were coming from? The issues that seemed to pop up from other shooters were weird POI shifts and the can loosening from the mount.

I just snagged a SCAR-H suppressor, so will plan on using that on the next precision rifle build - all POI reports and general reports have been nothing but positive with that suppressor.

Re: AAC 762-SDN

You can only pre-order with certain dealers that have standing orders with AAC. They will not ship till after SHOT Show, so expect to see them hit the market late January to early february.

That's Pretty bold..... are we talking the blackout mount? Because the blackout style mount on a 308 rifle is not that great. Mounting system is OK, but way to loose. I am never very comfortable going out on the UTV with my rifle strapped down.... come to a stop and my suppressor is barely hanging on. 2 small springs should not be the solution to holding such an expensive item on. IMHO

Re: AAC 762-SDN

The beefy ACME threads hold the item on. The springs, which are thick 17-7 heat-treated wire, only have to keep it from unscrewing.

He is talking about the 18 Tooth Acme threaded mount. The flash hider style ie: blackout, beak, breakout, or phantom is irrelevant. It was and is a good mount however the 51T is better.

Truth.

Hmm.. then there seems to be some confusion on your forum:

http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=62885&hilit=762SDN6

^^ seems like the standard 762SD is quieter for .308, whereas here:

..seems like the 762SDN6 is. My head is starting to swim :p

Every time I see a video with that guy come out of AAC, i wonder if he has finally gotten past puberty yet

I know, i know, hes probably older than I am and just blessed to look young but still, its subconsciously hard to take what he tells you seriously.
