You might make it work for you if you turn the cap 90 degrees to the left (or a bit further) and run the lever for the magnification from about 8 on up. I usually start around 10x anyway and don't have much use for 5,6, or 7x. The cap will lay flat so it should not be in the way. Your throw lever will then be pushed to the right from 8x or so on up if you want to keep the current caps and throw lever.
