If you have the right projos and the right speed, it should get there. All you need is about 2600 fps for the 175 SMK, or 2900+ for the 155 scenars. My AIAW has a slight advantage because of the 26" barrel, but that should not be the issue. LowLight has shown that an 18" barrel can get there also. So, the key is to pick the right projos.
Shoot the 178gr Hornady Superformance and it will go well beyond that...
But practically speaking there is absolutely no reason a factory 175gr bullet shot from an AE can't successfully reach 1000 yards at sea level. Mine stock shot the round at 2685fps, the barrel is cut to about 23" and a 1000 yards is no issue.
I still have a hard time figuring out why people feel there is an issue shooting anything shorter than 26" beyond 800m. it blows my mind, must be 168gr shooters.

Answers from AW/AE users only please?
Anyone here using a .260 AE at beyond 1000yds? </div></div>
People were doing it all weekend long at the 2010 Nor-Cal.
Have two shooter here in Vegas who have had their .308 out to 1200+ yards (3300 elevation).
I hear what you guys say and I am certainley a fan of the .260. The question is in regard to the action comparisson not projectiles. Is the accuracy potential of the AW significantly better than the AE? Forget the barrel lenghts etc,..we are talking about the receiver advantages/disadvantages?
I don't have much experience of 1000+ yards, since places to shoot that distance around here are scarse, but I've shot 1005 meters (1100 yd), and when on target I managed to get 18 or 19 hits out of 20 (60x60 cm gong) in a gusty 3 mps (6-7 mph) wind, with help from my spotter who corrected my dope with approximately 0.5 to 1.5 Mils left to right for wind, so yes, accuracy is definately there with a .308 with the right loads I'd say, but its getting close to transsonic, so if you intend to shoot something with a pulse on that distance, don't
(I was shooting 155 gr Scenars with Vithavouri N150 46 gr with a velocity around 890 mps/~2950 fps) Elevation was around 13 MIL if I recall correct..
