Hello guys,

I need help! First of all I want to apologize for the mistakes of language, ebm not write in English and am using a translator.
As posted earlier, I was fortunate to have approved by the U.S. government to import three new rifles, I get them and I arrived in Brazil on 03 October.

Yesterday I went to the shooting club to inaugurate them, brought me in a DTA 308 with a spare barrel in .338 LM, also brought a spike and an Accuracy International, model AX-caliber .308 Win.

After all the uproar by my fellow Brazilian shot, we were testing, the ammunition was loaded by myself, and I was careful to weigh the units one by one.

What was my (our) surprise when the AI-AX could not remove the brass from the chamber after firing 12 shots and gave all they got entangled in the camera.

We think that there could be over-pressure, put the rifle and ammunition in another measure speed, 2600 p / s brand new Lapua brass, bullets of 175 grains Match Sierra brand.

After a long break the head, we see that the nail puller bolt AI-AX was not biting on the brass.

After a long break the head, we see that the nail puller bolt AI-AX was not biting on the brass.

I need help, do not know what to do.

These parts and are expensive, have the cost of travel (airfare, hotel, food, car rental, etc. ...), the dealer's commission, and import tax of 50% in Brazil.

Does any good soul can help me or I'll have to keep using a brass rod to the barrier of the camera after each shot.

I thank fraternal attention.

Re: ACCURACY INTERNATIONAL - AX extractor problem

Dear Sirs at Accuracy International,

My name is Miguel A. Guimarães, I am a target shooting in Brazil.

After long 4 years to get the Export and Import permits from Brazilian and US authorities to get one of the best rifles in the world, an Accuracy International AX rifle in 308 caliber.

When I finally got all the permits, I buy on september 29, 2011, my first AI rifle: a Model AX, serial number 15539, caliber 308, with 24 long inches barrel, at my FFL/Exporter :National Guns, Inc, 3709W Flagler St, 33134, Miami, Florida- US (phone: 1-305-642-2355).

After arriving in Brazil, on october 8th 2011, I went to my range club to try for the first time the AX rifle. I was anxious and excited to finally be able to use my brand new rifle!

But, when I pulled the trigger, there was no bang. A misfire happened. After several seconds wait (for safety purpose) I opened the bolt but the cartridge kept inside the chamber. It is a brand new factory Federal Premium ammo.

So, carefully, with a cleaning rod, we pushed the round with no effort at all, out of the chamber. Me and some shooters presents were shocked as why the bolt did not extracted the round…?

After initial inspection of the bolt, I proceed to disasembly it and found several small pices of primers inside. After some cleaning and reassembly, we tried another round and this time at least there was a very light strike on the primer by the firing pin, but not enough to detonate it. And the round was not extracted too.

Tried another round, with the same results: misfire by light strike of the firing pin and no extraction of the round.

I took the rilfe to a gunsmith to look more carefull at the rifle and after some days, he phoned me on october 17th and told me he found:

- The tip of the firing pin is worn, visible by a magnification lens;

- the headspace has an excessive clearance of 0,75 milimeters (about: 0,02953 inches).

He said that this excessive clearance on headspace is the probably cause of the misfires and failures to ejetc the round as it is “loose” in the chamber and that is not normal.

With this facts, I ask Accuracy International to help me solve these problems on a brand new rifle that cost me about 13 thousand US dollars. I believe the rifle has an warranty about it.

I should mention that I did not received the test fire target with the gun.

Thank you for your attention and hope to ear from you soon,

Sincerely,

Miguel A. Guimarães

Re: ACCURACY INTERNATIONAL - AX extractor problem

What you should have done , was buy straight from the UK , it would have been quicker and cheaper .

Surprised you got it out of the US , I had a export permit turned down in the US , as they said the rifle ( AWM ) was for Police & Military only .

I then got my AWs direct from the UK , no problem or hassle like in the US .

If you look at getting another AI rifle , you would be well served in looking at the UK dealer first , just my experience so far .

Hopefully you get yours sorted out & start enjoying IT soon .
