I'm looking into getting a new rifle. And A.I. has really caught my attention. Im interested in the .308 AW, 26" plain w/ muzzle brake and threaded for a suppressor, and with a 2.0 stock. But I dont know if this would be way to go. None of my buddies have any type of an A.I. rifle. So, could I have some help in pointing me to a rifle setup that truly works.

Thats a big purchase, one thing I have said for years about the AI stock is you need to try it for yourself. If you have been behind the AICS chassis and like it, you have a good idea, if not find someone local that will let you get behind the AICS or AI rifle, or better yet shoot it.

Again, big purchase, you most likely wouldnt buy a car without test driving it, treat the AI chassis the same. Having owned AWs, AEs and AICS stocked rifles I can tell you, you will love it or hate it, not much middle ground.

Talk to Stacey from AINA here on the Hide. Here is a link to his profile http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showprofile&User=5236 He has his phone number in his posts. He can also direct you to AI dealers and distributors in your area. I agree with Capt. Kirk's post that it would be beneficial to get behind one first to see how you like the stock and various options.

This is a good set of options. As has been pointed out, get behind one to make sure you like the stock; better yet shoot one. Budget for proper glass and an AI mount. Save some money and get the dovetail scope mount which is superior overall.

Check out Thunder Beast Arms Corp for your can: good stuff from good guys that shoot.

You won't be disappointed with AI AW.

Here is some AI content from today (F to R; AWSM 338LM, AW50, AW in 308, AW in 260):

Re: Accuracy International Setup

I have to say that the rifle really grows on you. Now when I pickup a Sako TRG or a McMillian A-5 stock that it does not feel as natural as the AI.

All that being said, it would be a wise idea to crack off a few rounds before going through the money and time to buy something like this.

If you live near Colorado let me know & I am sure we can arrange a time to take you out.

Re: Accuracy International Setup

I personally haven't gotten behind an AI stock, but I work with two guyds with the 2.0 stock. They say that they're worth the money and wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Mendocino- Your 1,700 ysard hits are impressive. Nice job.

Re: Accuracy International Setup

I can tell you what my favorite place to eat is, you may go there and spend your hard earned cash with high expectations, all to find out its not what you like.

I found that most folks that dislike the AI stock are long time shooters/users of more traditional stocks, the AI is a departure from the traditional. If you don't have a lot of trigger time behind anything, it will most likely feel great to you. I am being non/biased here, I have owned many AI rifles and stocks, and will probably always own one, as well as a A5 McMillan, they just suit me well.

Re: Accuracy International Setup

Great choice. I have an AI AE MkII 20" with 2.0 and LOVE it. Since you plan on suppressing it right off the bat I suggest going with a shorter barrel. Personally unless you have huge hands you will like the AI chassis. It really puts your hand in the right position for a good trigger pull and the AI has one of the nicest trigger pulls of any custom I used to own. Great choice but don't forget to check out Schryver of Mile High, they have good deals and they are great folks to deal with.

Re: Accuracy International Setup

Depending on WHERE you are located in the United States, someone near you will probably let you get behind one to see if you like it. You WILL like it, so then you can call Mile High and speak with Diann and Randy and let them direct you to the perfect rifle for you. Sounds like you are already on the right track - just add a nice scope (S&B, NF, etc.).

Re: Accuracy International Setup

Its hard not to like them and here are a couple more reasons:
1. fully adjustable LOP, simply install or remove spacers for standard models, or we offer the QA features on the AW series, plus the target butt kit.
2. fully adjustable cheek piece, 2-way, standard

Honestly, I would recommend you try one out just as many others, and take note of one very important and interesting point from others here. They owned one of our products, replaced it with brand x stock and weapon etc, but have come back and are sold due to overall experience. While some find the thumbhole to be constraining or uncomfortable, with time and experience, many will agree it is really not an issue. As always, if you have any questions feel free to contact me for further assistance.
