First post here,
I'm just getting into long range shooting. well, proper long range shooting at any rate.
I'm currently building a rem 700 L/A with a shilen barrel. I really like to idea of a drop-in chassis, and AI seems to make it pretty easy to do, My only question is will it work and if so what modifications have to be done. I've seen a few people talk about it, but mile high and other vendors of AIs products tell me it can't be done. I appreciate the help in clearing the air.

Why WOULDN'T it work? As far as I know, a 700 long action is a standard footprint, be it a 30-06, .300 WM, or .338 Lapua. The only difference I would think would be in the magazines, as there are no 30-06 specific AI mags I know of.

I ran a rem 700 in 30-06 in an AI chassis. Simple bolt in. Yes, you have to adjust the lips of the magazine to hold the smaller diameter shells correctly but that is very simple. There is NO reason it wouldn't work.

any tips for doing that?
thanks for the help. Also, did you have to remove the cheekrest to pull the bolt out? and are their any other quirks I should know before ordering?

Make a tool like this to bend magazine lips, this one I made for tuning High Standard magazines, but will work on a mags. The slot is .030
