Advanced Marksmanship accuracy question

Am I correct in thinking to measure groups in moa instead of inches? I know what everyone thinks about groups but I got my AR-15 built a couple weekends ago and took it out but did not have my bi pod on it so I had to make a make shift support of a tackle box and could not really get into a good position with it.
So I was having difficulty but a managed to get a three inch group at 360 yrds and according to On Target that equates to a little over .77 moa. I do have my bi pod on it now and I have been dry firing the crap out of it so maybe I can cut it down a little the next time I go.

MOA is a unit of measure, a sixtieth of a degree. One MOA at 100 yards is about an inch, at 200 yards it's about two inches, and so on. You can describe a group, or shot placement, relative to corrections, in MOA or inches. When I think about countering for wind, I favor in inches because I can visualize inches at distance better than seeing it in MOA, I'm not programed that way. However, if I have the opportunity to adjust my sight, rather than favor or, perhaps change a hold, I think in terms of MOA, because the sight is calibrated for adjustment in that unit.

Either way is OK. Folks will know what you're talking about. Here, folks seem to equate MOA with 'cool'. Don't get caught up in 'Sniper PC'; we all put our trousers on one leg at a time here.

As Greg said, plus, don't get too upset that MOA actually equals 1.047 inches at 100 yards. You can treat it as earlier posted for most matters.

Thanks guys. So now I guess my question is, is that kind of accuracy bad,fair,good? I mean I know I need work and my rifle really is not mach grade.


Lower: mega

stock: magpull prs

trigger: stock (for now will up grade ASAP)

upper: not sure got it in a trade but it is an A3

free float tube: model one

berral: 20" stainless 1-8 twist from model one

scope: center point (waiting to order something better)

If that was the average 5 shot grouping for the rifle, I would say it is very good. Since it is a single 3 shot group, I would ignore it until you have more larger count groups to look at.
