so after 9 months, i got my osprey today. i also acquired the colt CQB marine 1911 a few weeks ago.

the colt is amazingly accurate, even in my hands. i was told by someone that with a can on the end, it doesn't matter what kind of barrel i have, it will not be as accurate as it would without it.

is this true?

or should i just leave the CQB alone and get a threaded barrel for my sig or remington, or a glock 21 with a 42 barrel cut and threaded? the later 3 options just are not as accurate as my colt.

Your Colt isn't going to magically turn inaccurate when you attach a can onto it. Stick to a quality barrel maker like Barsto, Schuemann, Kart, etc etc. and have a competent gunsmith fit the new barrel/bushing and thread the barrel(if need be).

I would leave the Colt alone. If you want a great 1911 with a TB check out a Sig 1911 Tac Ops with a TB. Sig makes a great 1911 with great options. The 1911 barrel is not a drop in option like a Glock or Sig. Other than that, just get a barrel for the Glock or Sig. They are usually drop in replacements and you are good to go.

i shot my sig, remington and colt 1911 as a quick test. standing from 10 yards (not that far, i know) i was getting 1.5-2" groups with the colt. the remmy and sig were about 4-5". same box of ammo. colt is POA-POI, while the remmy and sig were low and left. i know it isn't me with the low left, because my glock 19 is POA-POI. from 25yds, i was killing those pesky clay pigeons with the colt with regular success. not so much for the remmy or sig.

I dont see why a suppressor would make any firearm shoot worse unless the threading on the barrel or can is boogered and doesnt line up correctly. Not so sure on pistols, but on every rifle Ive seen actually shot a little bit better consistently group after group.

How Do Suppressors Affect Accuracy? within AccurateShooter.com

I think the idea of suppressors causing worse accuracy and lower velocity is a myth that is born out of people who want to run/do run subsonic rounds, and the less knowledgeable folks out there somehow construe that into thinking one cannot run supersonic rounds through a suppressor at all, and if you do they will be slowed down and less accurate. Thats JMO on why that myth is spread around but its obviously NOT true, especially if you already have a consistent 1/2 MOA shooter, and run a high quality can like a Thunderbeast or the like.

if i choose to suppress one of the 1911s, would it be stupid to get a 6" wilson match grade barrel, have it cut to 5.755" and threaded? wilson doesn't offer a match grade threaded barrel. nighthawk offers one though. would i also need a barrel bushing? i am thinking of leaving the colt CQB alone and suppressing the remmy. it was the cheapest one, and am not too concerned with the extra cleaning and having to take it apart more often.
