I know its not everyones cup of tea and some of you fellas are running them. Just curious of those who have one or have used them how well it works as a make-shift butt hook (folded or extended)
when I had it, I liked it. But to be honest, a rear bag is faster and more stable. Having said that, If I could have it on my MCM A5, I would put one on just to have in case I forget the bag.
I used a rear mono-pod for a while and went back to a bag; I find that the bag can be adjusted faster and with better precision. I do like the hand-hold the mono-pod provides though.
I guess I should've been a bit more descriptive. I currently have a B&C Medalist A2 stock on a 10fp and usually always use a rear bag.
Well recently I had the chance to get behind a buddies light tactical with the hook(still used my rear bag) Needless to say I was very pleased using the hook and the bag together.
So basically my thought was to use the monopod (probably folded) with the bag somewhat like a butt-hook. I just figured those who have had the pod have tried it and Id hate to drop 90$ and be completely dissapointed. I know I could just invest in an A5 or something along those lines but I don't think I can justify purchasing a new stock to the wife just for a hook. lol she wont get it.
I use one on my AR and my Manners MCS T1 (already has the butt hook) and have found it helpful on both. I also prefer a rear bag, but the option is nice. Very high quality product, so I wouldn't see it as a waste either, they seem to have about a 90%+ resale value here & rarely last long in the FS threads....
Go for it! Kinda hard to go wrong when you consider it's high re-sale if you don't like it....

I was shooting with a rear bag but when I added the mono-pod instead of the rear bag I started shooting better so I kept it on. </div></div>
Here is a couple pics of it.
