How's the quality of the glass? As far as light transmisson. Is it comparable to Bushnell, Leupold,....etc.

I would say it is as good as NCstar or maybe a little better like the bushnell. Just kidding, they are great! Glass is clear and if you get it with BAC the scopes are a great multi range optic.

My patrol rifle has an ACOG 4x with Docter. Excellent glass on the scope. Great reticle. Takes some practice to use the Docter as cheek weld is about non-existant. Use 'chin weld' and it works fine. The 4X is outstanding to 200 yds.
You won't be disappointed w. any of the ACOG's.

Glass is crystal clear. ACOGs are worth their weight in gold when you get up close and on moving targets. I love my TA31-F 4X. And I like my bible verse even more.

Are you almost as quick up close, as say, an aimpoint m4? I only got to shoot the TA031 for a couple days and was shooting 200-500 yards. I never thought about shooting close. I am now contemplating ditching my Aimpoint to spring for a TR24G but would an ACOG suffice? even if it sat on my nightstand as a home defense gun?

They are very quick, have excellent clarity with great light gathering ability. Practice alot with it even dry-firing senarios at various times in the day.
Some three gunners are using them even in close range competition. You can cap the end of the tube (Objective end /the end towards the barrel) and still use the chevron as an aiming point. Using both eyes open and while aiming with the chevron, your other eye will see the target.........Your brain will put them together....Try it. You can do this with other lit (or illuminated)reticles as well. I recommend using this technique for only close range shooting. If you like the way this works use it, if you don't, get a doctor optic or another aiming device for very close shooting. Hope this helps.

So for close in work the Aimpoint or EoTech is better suited. But for all around use I prefer the ACOG. Glass is crystal clear, great reticles, built like a tank and great customer service if something goes wrong. Of the 4 I own I like the TA01NSN the best.

How would this work on a 300 Whisper for deer and pig hunting? I have several young kids at my hunting camp and the normal scopes can sometimes be hard to see through due to head position for the 6-7 year olds. Is the Acog more forgiving?

Clarify... sure.
Center-mass or chest-sized targets are no problem out to that range. And it's fast. Not a scope to use to ID target features. It won't shoot 1". And I would not take risky shots with it... that's what my Sako TRG duty M/O rifle is for. But I qualified with ACOG out to 200 and I'd would deploy it at that range within above limitations.
To further clarify: my ACOG is no precision rifle scope. But mine is on a box-stock Colt LE Match AR, not on a precision rifle. Offhand, I can keep fast shots inside 10" or so at 200 with the ACOG -- easily that puts everything inside a chest or pelvic girdle. From a rest, the rig can do much, much better (when I can.)
The Docter is great at short range down to a few yards, but from 50 - 200 I find the ACOG optic excellent (for its intended purpose.)
FYI, I am designated M/O on our SRT and my duty M/O rifle is a TRG-22 w. Leup 8.5 - 25 optic. Just ordered USO SN3, though. When time and circumstance permit, that is the rifle that will be deployed vs. patrol rifle. But the Colt is always at hand in the cruiser.

The shots would be in the 10-75 yard range. I do not want to wound animals if at all possible. Just looking for something better than a normal scope(kid friendly). These kids are not mine and I logistically can not spend enough time with them to insure they are totally proficient. If I lived near them, I would go through the paces.

The one down side with the 4X ACOG's due to the short eye relief it is not very forgiving when it comes to head position. It took me a while to get use to how critical it was. I think with young shooters this might be a problem.

Santo may have a point to be considered. The eye relief is something to consider and if the rifle kicks some this may hit a weak armed kid in or around the eye. For more eye relief and still keeping it quite simple, you may want to consider Leupold Mark 4 1.5x5 lit reticle. I have one of these and they would be perfect for that setup. Great eye relief, very easy to use, light weight, equivalent price to ACOG and you can adjust 1.5 to 5 power with just a twist of the ring. And at low light or in the shadows you can just turn on lit reticle to iluminate reticle. Batteries are cheap and easy to find. I just order them off E-bay and they are the same battery that electric dog collars use (without the plastic casing). And batteries last along time as long as you turn them off when not using them... Night Force and USO have similar scopes to the Luepy as well and are priced in that ball park. Hope this helps

Glass is great on all Trijicons, the TA33's have longer eye relief than the TA31's and TA11's...

The ACOG TA 33 is an excellent compromise with it's longer eye relief and 3X magnifcation rather than the shorter eye relief on the 4X ACOG's.

i have a Brand new trijicon acog ta31rco.m150 cp for sale here is what you will see on it.
Sorry my camera got it from the ground lol I took it home and clean it and it is working. Bought a new battery for it and case thank god for a free camera and sorry for who lost it lol. It is a canon camera it is not that good but better than nothing.
As you can see a normal binocular. thing less than 100 feet will get fuzzy but this is so clear. That house like like 50 feet away across my house. And that thing is so clear. I never got a chance to use it at the range. I need money for something else..
You can use Trijocon acog as magnifier for eotech 552 or 553. it is up to you if you have extra money.

I see a post and/or member about to be deleted for trying to circumvent the rules regarding sales.
Tansinator, ACOG's are very clear hardy optics, but not for everyone. Try to get your eyes through one that's mounted before you plunk money down on one.
That said I kind of have the hots (but no funds) for a TA33R8.....
