Acog

Keep in mind, the ACOG is a fixed 6X as well. There are quite a few quality variable optics that fit that price range, USO 1-6 and Vortex 1-6 to name a few. The USO comes in at 11" long in FFP, 10.1" for the Vortex which is SFP. The ACOGs are great rugged optics, the fixed power and bullet drop BDC are what turn me off, they are compact and have very bright glass but there are other (and better) options out there IMO

...and that particular ACOG is 40 ounces. I say again, 40 oz. I've used a few that I wanted to keep as short as possible on SBRs. IOR's 1.5-8 Trident is 23oz and 9" long. Shortest I could find with that type of variable magnification range. I think it's Valdada's best optic with the 1-10 coming close. For a 1-6x your Leuy MK 6 1-6x20 is a little over that 10" threshold at 10.3" long but it only weighs in at 17 ounces. Add 5-7oz for rings and your way under the weight of that ACOG with far more versatility, better reticle choices, and much cheaper - especially so in the case of the IOR, but even the Leupold can be had $500 less that the 6x ACOG.

I wasn't going to go there, but that's what I was looking for as well.

True 1x with daylight bright red dot (I can use it EXACTLY as I do my T-1), open crosshairs, SFP, under 26oz, under 12", big FOV, bright glass, holdover reticle true at various points throughout the variable magnification range.

I went LTS about a year ago and I don't regret it a bit. Great field of view, unmatched magnification range, magnificent glass, great reticle with three magnification settings where reticle can be used like an FFP for longer ranges, 10 illumination settings, tracks perfectly, zero stops, turret design is awesome - all under 26oz and 11.75". Fucking fantastic!

It takes a beating too as it's on a 12" 308. That should speak to build quality.

Note- these are shitty iphone pics and are not indicative of what you'd see in person behind the optic...

At 1x:

6x: (house is apprx 320 yds away)

10x: (telephone poles are 1844 yds away)

Again, this doesn't even get close to what you'd see in person behind this optic. It's legit in every way. The Vortex 1-6 weighs in at the same weight, just has the magnification cut in half...
