Gunsmithing ACP Loggerhead

I just ordered a Mcmillan inletted for Loggerhead hardware. The Loggerhead website doesn't have any instructions on attaching the system into the stock. Can somebody give me an idea on how this attaches?

Right now it looks like the top peice is screwed, is the bottom epoxied?

The body of the upper assembly (face plate) is made to fit into a matching inlet machined into the bottom of the cheek piece which would result in the upper assembly body fitting flush with the bottom of the CP.

McMillan will not inlet the bottom of the cheek piece nor will they drill the side through hole for the clamp screw assembly in the butt stock. The only inletting they will do is the main clamp cut in the top of the buttstock.

Accordingly, the LoggerHead hardware is not "plug and play". You can order the hardware and install yourself if you are comfortable making the additional cuts. You can also have your stock drop shipped to Joe Ducos / "stock doc" or to KMW for the complete installation to be completed.

I have installed this before and have one on order (hoping it ships soon ;)). Like Terry says it’s not plug and play but it’s not difficult either. If you are relatively handy with tools and marine-Tex, it’s an enjoyable project. Marine Tex/Deacon forgives many dremel sins. I’m looking forward to installing the next one.
 
Thanks for the reply Terry. So does the crossbolt in the bottom responsible for keeping the bottom of the CP in place, or do you reccommend epoxy as well in areas where it will not effect the clamping action?

The crossbolt is a last resort failsafe in case the clamp tears loose. The clamp body is made designed to be epoxied in place. So far there are no reports of that happening with over 20k in circulation.

The clamp and inlet are designed to allow anchoring the lower assembly in place while still allowing full tension and release of the clamp body.

The crossbolt hole needs to be located fairly precisely and the cheek piece inlet needs to be spot on within the X axis.
