Have this action, that im thinking of redoing. From the books, it looks like a texas magnum. I have never seen one before. If it is a TM action, the orginal gunsmith has polished off the branding. the bolt is quite masive if it shows up in the pics. has 3 locking lugs, and locks up like that of a mauser with no bolt recess. The trigger is attatched to the trigger guard. Seems like a very beefy action. The stock was what is came with, no barrel. It must have had a round to octagon to round barrel, Im planning on redoing this for a freind with same contour barrel as he is a lefty. Just never saw an action like this one before. Tahnks for the help

Re: Action ID help ? texas magnum

I think you are correct it looks close to a Ranger Arms model Texas Magnum. At least that's what it looks like comparing it to some pictures in Stuart Otteson's book The Bolt Action Volume II. If you can get access to this book you will be able to tell for sure.

You're correct. Ranger Arms started in Gainesville,TX 1967 and made three different length actions before it closed. The company had a lot of ups and downs over the years. The design isn't all that great but it works. I don't see a trigger in any of the pictures.
