Action Issue ?

I have a redone Mauser 98 in .308...

I have noticed that IF I really move the bolt forward HARD then the rifle will UNcock and release the firing pin...

If I do it slow...and normal it stays engaged and does not "slam fire"...

Any hints or ideas on what to check first???

Check the sear engagement on the trigger?

I am not familiar with Mauser Actions, but on many bolt guns if it's dropping the pin when slamming the bolt closed, then sear engagement can be the culprit.

THANK YOU!

You were dead on.... the new trigger that was installed had a UNKNOWN set screw that made the trigger housing push the sear and back of the unit into the reciever making it keep contact when set properly...

Now... she is good to go with a 2# trigger that is VERY smoothe..
