I am looking to build a new rifle and was wondering what is the purpose of the spiral flutes on the bolts? I know a stupid one, but just not sure. Thanks!!

Yes. Smart man, that DebosDave.

I have had many custom rifles built with most of the bells and whistles(McMillan stocks, Badger bottom metal, etc.) and never felt the need for the flutes. My brother has them on his primary stick and loves them. I am neither put off or excited by them.

Yup! and it also makes your rifle shoot tighter groups....in the .2's I think.

Re: Actions
