Can you guys give me some advice on adding night vision capability to my rifle. I shoot and AIAW 308 suppressed with a S&B 5x25x56.
I would like to add night vision to it but don't want to give up my S&B. I love the scope. Is there any way I can add some kind of NV optics in front of my scope?
I see some nice gen 3 ATN night vision scopes but they are as much as my S&B was and I would not think the optics would be as good a glass that I have and not as versatile with magnification.
What are my options?
PS: I would love thermal also but the costs seem astronomical.
Thanks
Gary

a good nightvision converter for that scope is going to be expensive, but a pvs27 or my personal favorite, the L3 cnvd-lr would do well and give you good clarity/resolution

You can add a monocular type nvg to the occular of the SB with adapter rings (TNVC.com) or use a forward mounted device in front of the SB.

Adding a monocular will reduce eye relief and add length (in the wrong direction). The fwd mounted NVG is the smart solution but even the cheap ones are pretty expensive, think in the 6K range for a lower end unit.

Re: adding night vision to my rifle

Thanks for the help.

I see ATN night scopes are about what a S&B costs with the latest generation in a 6 to 8 power but I have to be changing scopes.

The PVS27 seems like the perfect setup but man 10K is steep for what little I will use it.

I am not totally clear on the Badger mount for mounting it on my gun. I use an Atlas bipod with the factory spigot mount. Would I lose my spigot mount if I used a Triad mount for a PVS scope in front of my scope?

What kind of numbers does it take to get a PVS 27 or are these listed prices of 9 -10K it?
Thanks

Get ready to drop some coin and post some pics when you do.

Your S&B has fairly high magnification to use with night vision and may not yield optimum results. Typically, day/night set-up will use scopes with magnification under about 10X. With that said, you may not be able to zoom to the high end of your scope's magnification range. You might have a look at the PS22, which is "pricy" as well!
