I originally ordered a heavy buffer spring when my MATEN had a 16" DPMS barrel w/ carbine length gas system.

Since then, I've gone to a Mega Arms 20" barrel w/ rifle length gas system, and a Seekins adjustable gas block. Is there any benefit to keeping the heavy buffer spring, or would I be better off switching to a standard buffer spring?

The rifle has a carbine length extension, btw.

With an adjustable gas block, there's no reason to have a heavy buffer spring or weighted down buffer. You can adjust the cycling with the gas block- having these components will only require that you turn the screw out more to allow more gas to compress the added resistance.

The beauty of an adjustable gas block (one of the many) is that you can tune your gas system/flow to accommodate just about any variety of buffer weights, spring tensions, ammo, etc., etc., etc. to make the gun operate properly.

I wouldn't buy a new buffer/recoil spring just for the sake of it when the one you have will work just fine provided you tune the gas accordingly.
