I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this post, but we'll give it a shot. I am looking for an adjustable gas block that has the adjustment screw towards the front? I have only found one from Syrac so far. Just looking for other options. Thanks for the help.

The Syrac is a good option, but not the best in my opinion/experience, based on the specific design elements/features of the Syrac in comparison with other offerings.

Check out the offerings from SLR Rifleworks seen here: Gas Blocks

The SLR DA series blocks are also all front-adjustable like the Syrac, are available in both set-screw and clamp-on like the Syrac, and offer a somewhat similar adjustment mechanism, but the SLR has several design upgrades/improvements over the current Syrac block as you'll see from the link above. The only "gripe" I have with the SLR, and it is just the nature of the beast given its design/function, is that it is taller/higher than the Syrac (not overall...but from the top of the barrel to the top of the block) and thus, they don't always fit under some rails/handguards that the Syrac will if that is a concern for you in your application. Just be sure to take the appropriate measurements BEFORE you order so you don't get stuck with something that won't work for your application.

All that said, Syrac is working on a "new" design that will be more akin to the SLR, as well as offering alternative sizes like 0.875" and 0.936" as well depending on your timeframe. Both companies are working on "tool-less" adjustment models that won't require the use of an adjustment key/wrench to dial up/down the gas flow.

For me, it is a one time adjustment or at least not a very frequent adjustment. Why would the location and style of screw be of importance ?

Because many (if not most) people who want adjustable gas blocks, especially for shooters who go between suppressed and unsuppressed shooting on a regular basis, don't simply "set and forget" their adjustment with their optimum load. I despise blocks like the JP style blocks because of the adjustment design which more or less has to be loctited in place once the "sweet spot" gets found or you risk the screw working its way out over time. There is no way to quickly/easily make that adjustment happen if its been "fixed" in place with threadlocker which makes it effectively a non-adjustable block at that point...just one that's been tuned for a particular load at a particular time under a particular set of conditions.

If only there was something that had a dial like some of the piston systems...

That is the sort of system that both Syrac and SLR are working on now in terms of "tool-less" adjustment (like a thumbscrew, etc., etc....not sure where either company is necessarily going with their respective designs, but with the click-detent type, 15-to-16 position blocks like those, a simple "dial" would seem to be in order). No idea on the timeframe for either of those systems, what they'll look like or whether they'll be adaptable/workable for an under-the-rail type setup.

SLR is the way to go!
