Adjusting Sako Quad 10 round magazines

I unpackaged and tried out a couple of Sako 10 round magazines. The effort did not go well as not one round fed from the magazine even opting out for the Federal 525 pack feeds in everything round.
The bullet is diving into the face of the barrel directly under the chamber. The feed lips need to be opened up a bit to allow the round to "set-up higher" to feed into the chamber. Any suggestions as to who does this type of work. 10 round magazines are hard enough to find that I really don't want to try and do it myself and screw them up permanently.

Suggestions are welcomed as I could hardly keep four 5 round magazines full when out shooting ground squirrels today.

Thanks
Pat

Re: Adjusting Sako Quad 10 round magazines

I set up my Sako 10 round magazines by returning them for 5 round magazines. Sorry, I know that's not the answer you are looking for. As far as I can tell there are two problems. First, the spring isn't strong enough. Second, the magazine is straight, so with all the rims stacked on top of each other the angle is not consistent from the first round to the last. If you got it adjusted so the first round fed right, the last rounds would hit above the chamber or just pop right out of the magazine.

MtGoat, I only have one 10rnder. I had to adjust the lips with needle nose pliers until i could get it to feed. Truthfully I wouldn't have another one. I order additional 5 rounders because I didn't feel like screwing with it anymore.

I ordered them directly from Beretta, who is the US Sako distributor, because everyone else was out of stock at the time and I needed them quickly.

Re: Adjusting Sako Quad 10 round magazines

I think that I will start by setting down with a pair of dial calipers and compare a 5 round to a 10 round magazine and see if I see any differences. I will then emery cloth then steel wool the inside of the feed lips to see if the round will ride a bit higher than it currently does.
