    Surprise, AZ
I am thinking about to order an AIAW and want a fixed stock rather than a folder. It seems only folders are in stock. Other than the folder being more compact when folded is there any other advantages or disadvantages of the folder over the fixed stock which I prefer.
    TIA

Don't have to take the cheek piece off to remove the bolt if you have the folder. Other than that there really isn't any other factor over it....other than the CDI factor

Plus side: cleaning, transporting in a less than huge rifle case. My AWSM is a folder and it does fit in a regular rifle cases with the factory 27 inch barrel. Also helps with resale.

    It is a expensive option.

Thanks guys the info helps. Your right the folder option is expensive but it is all that's available right now and I am an impatient guy, not a good trait.:(

You can do THIS with a folder:

But seriously, it's an expensive option. I had an AW 1.5 and it didn't make much of a "practical" difference, but I would never buy another one without it as I hate wishing I had options I don't have. Even if I don't use them much. My AX is a folder (pictured in the Gunslinger 2) and until I had a gunslinger the only time I used it was cleaning the rifle. But I wanted it cuz it was cool, damn it! Seriously, if you are a logical person, it's not worth the money, but some times it's not about logic, and it sounds like in your case it's about impatience, which is cool too. I don't know anyone who ever regretted getting "too much" rifle and the folders down side is only price, so I say "fuck it" buy the folder. After you spend the extra you'll never wish it wasn't there.

If you can get the folder, I would get the folder, it is worth it.

    Much easier cleaning:
You don't have to remove the cheek piece to pull out the bolt to clean the gun

Much easier to fix in a hurry:
Anything goes wrong like something gets stuck inside the action such as grass or such, you can yank the bolt in a moment or two to clean it out.

Much smaller to pack / carry:
You can put your rifle in a smaller drag bag that would fit in a normal sized trunk in the back of your car.

    Much faster resale:
AI rifles in the for sale section with fixed stocks seem to hang around forever till someone lowers the price way down, the folders seem to move a lot quicker.

A folding stock is primarily about convenience. The two main points being convenience in transportation and convenience in cleaning.

For me, it's nice not having to remove the cheek piece every time I want to pull the bolt. While it seems like a minor thing, it's just one of those things that every time you want to pull a bolt whether transporting without the bolt in the rifle or if you clean a lot it becomes a big difference.

    BM11 & W54/XM-388,
You GUYS are spot on in all you say about never regretting to much gun. The fact that seems to be no practical difference in accuracy, folders sell faster and have a higher resale value is a huge plus, you convinced me. So I guess I can blame you guys when I tell my wife how much coin i'll have to drop on it.

You can blame me. Hell, you can have her call me up and bitch, I don't mind!

Re: Advantages/Disadvantages Of AIAW Folder Over Fixed

If anybody has any straight 1.5 guns that they want to sell cheap because the resale value is for shit let me know ill buy some of them.

Re: Advantages/Disadvantages Of AIAW Folder Over Fixed

When I was ordering my ai, the non folder was not an option. I wanted the folder because everytime I'm dome shooting, the bolt must come out in order for the rifle to fit in the case. This was especially true with the 60* bolt.
