There's a very large price point gap between good but affordable, and top of the line.
Good but affordable, Leofoto 364c.
Best value, Two Vets QDT
Top of the line (not necessarily the best choice) RRS
There's more of course that fit in there, but those are the ones I'm familiar with.
if you are going the buy once, try once route, RRS has tripod heads (leveling head or ball heads) that are made to withstand the weight and recoil and they have arca quick clamps already (also compatible with picatinny).Appreciate the insight, any guidance on the ARCA mount component.
Thanks,
Mike
Pretty hard to beat the RRS ANVIL-30. Leofoto/Vortex Radian/RRS ball head with panning feature can be pretty useful for spotting/tracking but isn’t quite as stable for shooting off of. A leveling base is a tad more stable but lacks the range of motion if you shoot in hilly country or from towers/etc. Quick disconnect instead of knob is pretty handy although not an essentialAppreciate the insight, any guidance on the ARCA mount component.
Thanks,

RRS may not be the best choice because at their price point, they aren't significantly better than the Two Vets QDT.
The Two Vets is thicker carbon 10 layers, uses aluminum joints, and has a bigger head when the ball head is removed (better support for using a bag).
Chris Way of Riflekraft fame did a head to head and liked the QDT better. I know a couple guys who have broken the leg components on the RRS.
Don't take that as me bagging on RRS. They're a great tripod. Its just something to consider when spending a $1000 versus $550.
I asked RRS about this….and took my ball head off and looked. Yes, the Anvil goes right on with no adapters.Any one out there tried Removing the vortex radian ball head and using a rrs anvil 30. Are they compatible in this way?
