Hello folks,
I consider myself a novice to the reloading game, only been at it for a year.
I recently had my rifle built, a 308 on a blueprinted Rem700 action with Rock Creek, M24 1-11.27 twist barrel.

I have had great results with all 168gr bthp brands, loaded in Lapua brass, with 42.gr of IMR8208, seated .020 of the lands. At 300 I am getting a 3 shot 1in group, when I do my part. I thought a 175bthp SMK might be the ticket, but when I loaded it the same way, it shot a 3in group at 300, repeatedly.

My question, should I try somthing else, or stick with 168?
Thanks
Jim

Re: Advice on load?

I would like to be able to shoot the best group possible in the 800yd range, 8 in steel plates.
I know the only real way to tell, is to test the round at that distance. My personal range only goes to 300, I figured I would start the testing at that.
I have read here on the hide that the guys have had good results with the 175smk.

Thanks
Jim

Re: Advice on load?

I like the 175s, especially when you get out to some range.

The 168s will work, but the 175s are a bit better. The AMAX is probably worth a look for you too.

What velocity are you getting with the 168s?
