advice on powder.

I am about to start load work on a new 7STW and have in the past used IMR7828 for my reloads. 160 to 180 gr will sit top side with a 27" barrel.

Does anyone have any advice on another powder to try ?

For 162 gr, consider Ramshot.

H1000, RL22 and Retumbo are good. I get good results with IMR7828SSC.

As a suggestion, I'd say follow what your manual lists.

I've been reloading for about 10 years. I am very familiar with the manuals and how to read them. What I was asking for was real world experience with magnum charges on smaller bores like the .284.

I've traditionally used IMR powders and was wondering what others have found.

I've only run Retumbo for the heavy bullets in an STW. They have all shot great, and given the most velocity. I would look at nothing else.
