I am about to order a Bolt Raceway Reamer from PT&G. Will a .705 clean most Remington 700s? I do not have many 700s in my shop to check at this time. I seem to remember some having a .706 front ring. Should I have the reamer built in a .707 Dia.? Thanks, Keith

Re: Advice on Remington Bolt Raceway Reamer

Thanks, William for the info. Dave will build any Dia. at no extra charge. What do you think about having one built .706 or .707? Would this clean up a little better? Dave will also build bolts to fix this size at no extra charge.

Re: Advice on Remington Bolt Raceway Reamer

After reaming with the .705" Raceway reamer I can slip my .705" bushings in and they feel smooth not tight or snug, no slop. I'm not sure I'd go .706" or larger but, I cant see where it'd hurt anything either. Have Dave grind bumps on your custom bolts in the future to match your reamer and run with it.

Re: Advice on Remington Bolt Raceway Reamer

Not taking anything from PTG as I think the world of Dave and the gang. I use a Manson .715 reamer that also works very well. I then order my bolts from PTG to my specs. You can also have Dave build the se size reamer if you wish. Just wanted to let you know you can ream to a larger size which which will ensure a trued bolt way. Look at both, then decide what's best for you.
