Ok guys, just wanted some thoughts, opinions and suggestions on something. I just got a 22lr and was thinking about purchasing some new glass.....however; I've heard some guys on hear mention that they use the same glass from their big boy gun to the toy gun and just change the zero to fit the cal.
Would the zero hold when jumping back and forth from let's say a 6.5 cm to a 22lr and as long as u make the adjustments from your initial zero?.....hope this question makes sense lol

As long as your scope tracks reliably and you’re using a quality mount then you shouldn’t have any issues. Just record the change from one rifle to the other and that should stay pretty consistent.

Gotcha...I appreciate advice....I'll have to order another set of rings then ....I did the rookie thing of just buying any rings...I know I messed up with that....I have decent glass ( vortex razor gen 2) ....so I'll wait on them and see how it goes...again ...I appreciate the advice

I think you will be much better off with one of the high end one piece mount instead of standard rings. It will hold position much better. I have some that I take on and off and the re-zero pretty well. They can get pricey but are worth it in your case. Maybe LaRue, Nightforce, Vortex or American Defense on the more reasonable end.

I really like my adm qd mounts but I don’t swap scopes but its nice to take it off for cleaning knowing it’ll go back on and be zeroed as much as it would have been considering invirometals. I have 4, 3 cantilevers on gassers and one sl for my 6.5 creed. I’ll continue to buy stuff from them. The website blows dogs though, go through a third party unless you need parts.

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I can't afford two high end glass setups (25CM and 22 Vudoo), and personally feel I'd rather have one nice piece of glass then two mediocre ones IMO. With that said, it's doable, just right down the changes in elevation and windage, along with marking with a paint pen where you are physically mounting the scope mount to the pic rail.

I use ARC QD-L mounts. These are amazing at keeping it as consistent as possible and don't require any tools when removing it or installing it. I looked at a Spuhr and Era-Tac as well, they are at least a couple hundred dollars more. One thing to consider is if you go this route with the brands mentioned the lowest height is 1.38", which is not ideal... but it's a trade-off for me... a 1.1" height would be best for my setups to be as close to the bore as possible, but I don't want to mess with screw mounts especially if I'm at the range as opposed to a quick change system like the QD-L. You can find the QD-L on the PX here for ~$250, totally worth a try... good luck!

Yes you can swap back and forth but it becomes a pain whether using a mount or rings. Do it though if it works. Just rezero. Not hard.

I don't like mounts on bolt guns as it sets the scope up higher than it needs to be. Just look at the pictures above my post. OP what rings do you have now? What rifles are you using them on specifically? If both have a picitinny rail then moving a scope with rings back and forth is easy. No need for a mount.

If I was going to use rings with one scope for multiple rifles and you haven't bought a set I was looking at ARC M10 and Badger rings. I like the fact they only have one screw/bolt to tighten per ring... good luck! I like ARC M10s because I typically have a set of allen bits with me at the range (stock changes, scope, etc)...
