AE MKIII comes in Friday...Surefire Socom Brake???

First...I will get as much sleep as a kid on Christmas Eve until Friday. I ordered a AI AE MKIII 20" Folder with a Brake. I am going to remove the AI brake and replace it with a Surefire Socom brake and later add a Socom Suppressor. Has anyone installed one of these on their precision rifle, and was there any effect on accuracy? Particularly the brake.

Ya, wait until you get the suppressor to use that brake... just went through that with someone.

with the suppressor it works great, without the suppressor the groups opened up a bit. (not huge but noticeable) remove the brake completely and the rifle was a 1/4 minute shooter.

Thanks for the info...How did it perform with suppressor...I want it to be able to perform with and without.

Shot 3/8" with the suppressor

About 5/8" without the suppressor

and roughly 1/4 - 3/8ths with nothing ... give or take a tiny bit

is this the rule or the exception? (and how much has to do with how its threaded or installed?)

Ive got a build coming in also and adding a surefire brake to it, just want to know if its going to be an accuracy killer

It just was.... part of the issue was trying to diagnose why, which there was no one thing to point too.

Threads / Install was fine, we used different brakes and had no change.

My personal opinion after working with it, the brake was the issue, whether it was the cast for that one, or the design, I can't say. Especially since with the suppressor it was better than with just the brake alone.

But really nobody had an answer.
