AI AE Barrel Choice

Would you order 1-10 or keep the 1-12 barrel both in 24 inches on an AI AE? My goal is accuraccy at 1000. I am not sure which bullets I will use but probably the scenars for matches. I will also load AMAX's as well for the coyotes and other critters at the ranch.....

24" barrel I'd go 1-12", you'll be able to use bullets up to 208 Amax with it.

The 1-10 would be a Bartlein vs the stock 1-12 barrel from the UK.....I am not sure if that would make a difference and being Bartlein may be more accurate.

My 12-twist AE has no trouble stabilizing 180VLD's in cold weather.

for .308, Id go 20-24 in either 1/10" or 1/12", cool thing about the AI's is you can switch barrel it, I plan on getting a gain twist .243 Gap that Ill use for comps and critters.

You might want to consider switching to 260 Rem if you are intent on that distance. You can read up about it here but no harm knowing what you don't want if you decide not to...

yeah but then I would have to shoot open class at matches and I would rather shoot FTR.

Get the Bartlein if you think it's worth the extra $100, I probably would. That being said, my factory Border barrel leaves nothing on the table, in terms of accuracy.
