Hey guys. I'm new to SH and have my first question for you all. I recently bought an AI AE MK3 in .243 win and I'd like some feedback as to what bullet weight would be ideal for the 26" 1:10 twist barrel. I plan to hand load my ammo as I do with my other rifles... but I would also like to pick up some factory ammo to plink steel with in the meantime.
My other .243 with 1:10 twist generally shot 95 and 100 grain fairly well, better than lighter or heavier loads. I know from experience that two of the same caliber rifles with the same barrel length and twist don't always like the same loads.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has experience with loads for this specific rifle, or even has knowledge of data for this rifle. I'd be grateful for any help with bullet weight and load data that would produce the kind of groups that we all love to see.
I only ask because AI hasn't been all that helpful with the info they can provide (90 to 105 gr loads is the range they recommend). And other info on the net is just too broad. And aafter spending some time on SH I've come to realize the vast knowledge and expertise members here have. So any help would be great!!
