AI -- AT stock question

Like...this? I would think so. Surgeon puts rifles in to the AX chassis all the time.

jwood1284,

Thanks for answer.

New at differentiating between AIC chassis, was asking about AT ATCS according to owner's manual title page.

Part # 26695BL "stage 2" in link below:

Mine doesn't have the lower second connection to bottom of pistol grip creating "thumbhole" stock appearance shown in your picture.

If you don't mind questions, when did you purchase yours, and where did you get the monopod? [that mine lacks}

Not mine, just a photo from the web. The thumb hole section is a “skin”. You can buy them, and swap out the rear pieces. I think that is a B&T Atlas monopod, but I’m not sure. I am sure you don’t need one, get a quality rear bag.

ShtrRdy,

From their website:

"By integrating the recoil lug into the action, Surgeon creates a longer tenon length and strengthens the entire free-floated system."

Reading it again, I am not absolutely sure what they mean by that. Any information as to that greatly appreciated.

Assume* the extra lug length part on my own. Don't own a 700 Rem to compare it to, or even have access to one for comparison purposes.

*ass-u-me scenario again?

jwood1284,

Have protector style leather sand bags, but would prefer on-board mono-pod w/bipod that will always be there when needed.

May look into getting a L.O.P. spacer modified to accommodate.

thanks,

Do you have the Surgeon action in hand? If not, and if their website claims that it is a Rem 700 'footprint' then I think you'll be okay.

As for the butt spike, I'm pretty sure the AICS needs to be modified to add one. It's not a bolt on accessory. I have an AI-AT and 2 of the older AICSs.

ShtrRdy,

sorry about long delay...i went and borrowed some dial calipers from a friend, removed action and got the measurement info ready to send here today.

same not needed anymore as [email protected] FINALLY answered my email inquiry from last week about the usability of above mentioned AIC's folding stock and surgeon short action.

THEY SAY IT IS COMPATIBLE!!

the entire question arose from Derek at eurooptic telling me they would not interchange without chassis modification, maybe 2 weeks back. i bought the rifle and chassis from them brand new early this month and after opening folder stock to install bolt, it would not lock into the extended/firing position again.

the original posting came from me requesting they exchange my bogus stock for the same model, which they already had in stock.

i still haven't gotten any response from >[email protected]< above as to whether they would warranty my defective stock, also from last week. have learned through this ordeal that them and eurooptic are same parent business.

it's good to know you can go to KNOWN NAME businesses in order to avoid problems commonly encountered from fly-by-night outfits, and still get burned.

THIS WAS OVER A $5k PURCHASE.

a warning to eurooptic/AIC.us:

if you foolishly choose to take action against me due to this posting---I HAVE SAVED ALL OF THE EMAILS MENTIONED ABOVE AND WILL GLADLY POST THEM HERE TO PROVE MY POINT.

if you decide/choose to honor your obligations, i will check with sniper's hide about removing this thread.

all i have wanted from the get-go was a new rifle i could actually shoot.

EuroOpitc is not owned by AI, and vice versa.

First up my retraction- at the AIC.us contact page I definitely mistook eurooptix listing directly under aina address as a connection between the two completely different entities. Thought that mile high was the only other US distributor.

My bad there, please accept my apology.

secondly ~IF~ anyone @ eurooptix is looking into this see email Derek sent June 18th @ 12:17PM...

"I can see what options we have here. Thing is that stock is slightly modified by Surgeon to fit their receiver. I can see if they can swap it though."

I replied instrructions to give me a SITREP when he heard from them.

[haven't heard from him since then. 12 days ago...]

His email is what sent me checking into SAC regarding warranty work. Found a thread here where Louis Stephens @ sacfirearms .com seems to have been treated very unfairly. He has been more help in solving this than either of the other two parties were. Even after it was determined eurooptix stock did not come from his company. He sent me a picture of the folder hinge joint showing that my stock is only missing the Allen head screw that threads into the forward hinge boss detent.

Received a response from aina@acc/intl.us at 2:06 PM today, six days after my initial inquiry about warranty. will get back to them about sending missing part this evening.

To the people who have dissed me about this issue. No hate from me, I actually hope you never have to deal with a saturation similar to this.
