AI AW .308 barrel threading: M18x1.5 or 5/8"x24?

I'm about to order an AI AW in .308 from Mile High Shooting and will have them cut a 24" barrel model to 22" and thread it. The rifle will be getting an AAC Cyclone as soon as my bank account recovers. I'm not planning to run a muzzle brake. Any reasons to go with one thread pitch or the other? My NFA dealer stocks the Cyclone in 5/8"x24 but said they can get one in M18x1.5 without a problem.

This will be my only .308 for the foreseeable future. I have an SPR/M4 for my AR-15s.

Consider getting the can first, then sending it to them with the rifle.

For the barrel threading the simple way is normally the best way. We offer 5/8x24 (which is the most common for .30cals), M18x1.0, M18x1.5 or 3/4x24 muzzle threading. I would recommend for this barrel, either the 3/4x24 or 5/8x24. Now if you plan on running the suppressor on other weapons, the TOMB or QD suppressor would better serve you so you can install muzzle brakes on several different host, and the suppressor will simply install on the brake directly. However, your choice and feel free to call us at the office tomorrow for direct customer assistance.

Stacey—Thanks for your patient explanation of all the different threading options and muzzle devices for mounting an SAS Arbiter. The thread-over-muzzle-break option with you guys proof testing the rifle/suppressor combo sounded like the right one for me, as opposed to my initial thinking of screwing on an AAC Cyclone and hoping for the best. To say that I've been impressed with the pre-sales support I've received form you and Melissa across a couple of phone calls would be an understatement.
