Assuming I can find one , what would I expect to pay for an AWM with a folding chassis (let's assume just the rifle). Caliber not important but I'd like to go .338 Norma in the future.
Too much.
The AWMs people have been asking tons for a legacy product.
Check the AX338s, they have had reasonable asking prices lately and have better/longer mags I believe.
I've seen a few here and on gunbroker in .300 win for $5000-$7000. Theres one on gunbroker in .338 with a .300 win conversion barrel for $9500 right now, with zero bids and a BIN price of $13,500.
There was an AWSM listed here (non-folder, 1.5) a while back for like $7K. It never sold as far as I am aware.
If you are buying one to shoot it, entirely not worth the cost. If you are buying for nostalgia or as a collector, well it's worth what someone will give for it!

I've wanted a AIAW since the mid 90s. Back then when I was 12 or so they were too expensive for me to acquire, now at $5000-$10,000 they're too expensive for me to acquire lol.

Yep, that's what I was worried about. I don't really want one if I'm going to pay more than it costs for an objectively better rifle, and they don't seem like they would have the historical value to justify the premium. These seem like they're the diesel truck of the precision rifle world.

I half considered bidding on the one in .300 I saw for $5000 on gunbroker. I ended up getting a Sako TRG 42 in .300 and a scope for the same price the AI would've cost me.
A Legacy AWSM is worth about $5000, not much more.
Still a solid rifle, I still use mine all the time. But they don't command great prices.
Follow up with MHSA they take in trades all the time, I bought mine from them at a deep discount. They usually have a few floating around depending on the time of year.
But you can get older AX Models for less than $7000, so I would not pay more than $5000 for a legacy rifle
I'd love to have one. I like the egos of the forearm better than the MC. I do find it funny that the SA AW's struggle to hit $3+ and the LA AW's are priced so wildly.
