AI AWSM why so many for sale.

Re: AI AWSM why so many for sale.

I'd venture to guess it's the first thing to go when money gets tight. I think you'd find plenty of used Harley's for sale on the motorcycle boards.

Re: AI AWSM why so many for sale.

I imagine a significant number of folks are dumping the older AI's so that they can buy one of the new models coming out next year (or so).

It's tough time now a day. Having extra cash handy is always better than having a stick that can pay your mortgage and then some.

Re: AI AWSM why so many for sale.

I have one listed now that a local guy had and I am selling it for him, if I did not already have one in the safe I would be keeping it.

A stinging lesson to learn, and I'm speaking from experience. From now on, it's only Fedex with direct signature confirmation for that kind of thing. Anything else is too much like Vegas for my taste.

+1, You’re absolutely right.

Re: AI AWSM why so many for sale.

I've owned a AI AWSM .338 and sold it when the new Sako TRG-42 .338 came out. It has the 1 in 10 twist and shoots the 300 grainers with no problem. I get better groups with the Sako and it's over $3000.00 cheaper and you can get all the goodies as well. Parts and accessories don't cost as much and the wait is not as long. Don't get me wrong, I like AI, but the cost of the gun out weights the performance. (this is just my opinion!!)

Re: AI AWSM why so many for sale.

Its just the economy. Many folks are having to make hard choices regarding the luxury items they were able to afford when times were better.
I know I'd be clearing my large magnums if I had any right now, too expensive to feed. I've sold/traded almost everything that I don't reload for save 22lr's, and even those I've let some of my favorite high end ones go if they haven't seen action recently.
