I hear that the AI AXs have a action rail that is out of spec (too wide) and won't let some QD mounts work properly. At the very least they have to be adjusted.

Anyone else run into this issue?
My AX has the out of spec wide rail but I had planned on switching to cross bolt rings anyway.

I'm not sure on the action rail, but the short picatinny rail for mounting my bipod is definitely a different dimension then the one on my Gap rifle. I have to adjust the nut about 1/2 a turn when switching back and forth.

they are a touch different but my spuhr mounts (3 of them) dont know the difference.
    and the 3 bipods:
phoenix is a tank, a top hanger is locked up tight
    regularold atlas is fine
and i actually have a real AI sent from england
they all lock up more than fine (or their mounts do)
by the way the actual AI is kind of crappy, looks cool and the colors match exactly but not even as sturdy as a harris.

Everything I have locks up tight as could be as well, however if I have my atlas QD adjusted for my GAP it will be too tight to attach to the rail on my AI. It takes around half of a turn out on the adjustment screw to make it fit.

They are made to STANAG 2324 specs which is slightly different than STD-MIL 1913 specs

Well apparently the AT is made to a different spec then?
You shouldn't spend $7000 on a rifle and then have to adjust mounts that fit on everything else find

Not sure if the source wants his info out there so I deleted a bunch of stuff but:
    "
Every AX rifle (2013s through 2017s were tested) failed, but every AT rifle was fine.
AI sent nine different rails of various types (AT/AX/Modular 700, coated/uncoated) out for CMM testing (I didn't know what CMM stood for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinate-measuring_machine), and were supposed to reply back last week. They haven't yet, which isn't a surprise based on their track record thus far."

They might have done it on purpose to keep people from running shitty QD mounts on their optics. lol

I only run Spuhr or AI mounts on mine but on the top rail (which I'd assume to be same spec as the action rail) I run a L3 M2124LR that uses Larue QD fuckery, an L3 LWTS that also uses Larue QD fuckery, and a KAC PVS-30 which uses their own QD with no issue. Also run several types of illuminators and lasers on the rails that have QD mounts without issue.

Not sure on the action rails but my Spuhr has no problem. AS far as the accessory rails, they are all over the place. Three rails on the same gun will have 3 different tolerances. In fact I think each rail from my 3 chassis and AX rifle are all different, maybe like a fingerprint LOL....the still work just fine though.

^ wow AI quality lol. I really don't want to have to be re adjusted clip on sights/lasers etc to take them from a gun with spec rails to an AI

Dude I swap my clip ons all around to two different AI's, a LMT MRP, a Seekins SP3R rail, and a Geissele rail. The Larue mounts are by far the most picky QD's as far as having to make adjustments and I haven't had to adjust one of mine yet.

I think you're making a mountain out a mole hill. Even if an adjustment were required it's not like it takes more than a minute with one tool that should be in the case with your clip on anyway.
