I am trying to develop target load for my 20 inch AIAW
IMR 4064 Powder 168gr Sierra BTHP.
Don't want to run them very hot, started with 40.8 grain of powder and I wasn't happy about the groups.
Anybody has any suggestions ?
Wondering what would be the proper FPS to stabilize the 168gr bullet in 1-10 twist at 20 inch length of barrel.

I've been shooting 42.2 grains of IMR 4064, Sierra 168 Match Kings, CCI BR2 primers, and Lake City 93 match cases for 12 years in my precision bolt guns and match tuned 308 Garands with excellent results. In my precision bolt guns I'm shooting 100 yd groups around .625 MOA. This load chronographs around 2670 fps in my bolt guns. Keep in mind that Lake City military cases are heavier and have less case capacity than commercial cases. If your shooting something like Winchester cases, your accuracy load to get around 2650 fps will be closer to 44 grains of 4064. In a commercial case, 40.8 grains is too low.
