AIAX ring height

I have a Spuhr SP-4006 on my AX308. The AX308 (SA) has a 20MOA rail. The optic is a S&B 5x25x56 with Butler Creek caps. It works and is a close fit, however a 1.5" Spuhr would probably be a better choice. That 1/8" would allow more front cap options.

The 1.5" height Spuhr works perfectly on my AX with a 56mm Gen2 Razor with the Vortex Defender front scope cap. The rubber on the scope cap is approximately 0.100" thick, so if you don't run a scope cap, you might be able to get away with the 1.35" mount.

I think for a 50mm objective you will be able to go with the 1.35" mount, though I personally wouldn't just because at that height I would have to bottom out the cheekpiece and I like having a little bit of adjustment room for positional shooting or if someone else wants to shoot it. That's specifically for my cheeks and is with a Wiebad cheek pad which adds a bit of thickness.

To get the Tenebraex caps included with my Minox ZP5 (56mm objective) to clear the rail in an SP-4006 I had to thin the bottom of the cap. With the scope at this height, the cheek piece is in it's lowest position for a proper cheek weld, so there's lots of adjustment left to accommodate a taller mount. If you want a little leeway, minimum 1.35" height for 50mm objective and 1.47" height for 56mm objective.
