Does any on know what the weight of and Aic stock is. I just picked up a new remington 700p in a .300 winmag and i dont like the factory H-s stock as the palm swell is to big/thick for me. I would like to keep the gun lite as possible.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Aic stock weight.

The AICS 2.0 is 5 lbs 8 oz SA, and 5 lbs 12 oz LA. You will need the LA....

AICS are great stocks, but lightweight is not part of their attributes.

Re: Aic stock weight.

Does anyone know what the factory H-s precision stock weights. I know the whole rifle with scope and bipod weights 11.2 pounds right now.

I have a Remington 700 with a Chute ultimate sniper stock on it. and i think its a little on the heavy side (15 pounds) as far as packing around. I tried hunting with the rifle last year and it was not fun carrying it around

Re: Aic stock weight.

I don't know offhand, but I think I understand the direction you are trying to go.

I would suggest you look at the Bell & Carlson stocks. They are similar in construction to the H&S you have, but without the large palm swell. I actually feel they are better finished than the H&S stocks. They will be in the same weight range as well.

If you want lighter than stock, look at the Manners or McMillan stocks. Both have carbon fiber laminate stocks that are designed to be as light as possible.

FYI
I just switched to an HS Precision Police stock from the Choate Sniper. Its a sweet stock, but, surprisingly its not much lighter. I have not officially weighed it yet, but it may weigh more.

Re: Aic stock weight.

Get a McMillan/Manners, the AICS is like having a cinderblock tied to your rifle. All the stocks is alu chassis weigh shitloads more than a straight glass stock as long as you don't get something like 'sniper fill'

Re: Aic stock weight.

their is almost 5pounds difference between my .308 and my .300. the .300 is all stock with a scope and Harris bipod and weights 11.2pounds.
the .308 has a chute stock / muzzle brake/ and the same scopes as the .300 and weights 15 pounds.
both rifles have 26" barrels also. I think im going to call hs and see if i have room to sand/file the stock down in that area and cerakote it.

Re: Aic stock weight.

The HS 700P stock is 2.6 lbs.
The HS LTR is 2.1 lbs.
The one on the 5R is 2.5 lbs.
The HS VS is 2.4 lbs.

The little LTR stock is as light as you will get for an aluminum block.

Manners Carbon fiber can be as low as 2.1 lbs. McMillan Edge can get to almost 1.5 lbs depending on the model- would be an HTG or hunting stock though. Not a tactical.
