Does "Golding Chad is" = "folding chassis"? I understand some of those airsoft guns are built pretty sturdy these days, but surely putting an actual gun into an airsoft chassis is... not very advisable?

Airsoft chassis work great on .22's. You can make some cool guns. These are all guns I've built using Airsoft parts ranging from .22lr to 5.56
