New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I Love AI rifles but the only thing that gets me is the weight. Is there a Remington 700 Action I can get that is significantly more lightweight and put it in a AICS?
This is the only way i know of making a AICS lighter, but up mess with the harmonics. i believe the end result was very livable you would have to pm 300sniper. im a firm believer in if it works don't f*** with it, im a Harley manicanic by trade and if the company has put millions of dollars in to designing something it probably works. if you put exhaust on you have to change something else so the bike don't eat its self apart. when you play with a stalk, especially cutting off the metal on a AI you play with the harmonics, it could brake it. but need is the mother of invention and some times you make it better, most you don't. and you void the warranty.
when you are comparing a glass stock to an aics, make sure you are including all the hardware, bottom metal and bedding material when you look at the glass stock weight.
Talk to Tom Manners about a light weight T5. Similar feel, and he may be able to make it from Kevlar. Don't know, but it's just a thought. I love the way mine feel. I also run the AICS, which also like very much, but weight is not an issue for what I use it for. Good luck.

I've noticed this too. That's why I am very careful about humming certain songs while shooting. Just a little off key and my groups totally fall apart.
