I have a rem 700 s/a with cdi dbm and when I use 10 round mags the mag lips that hold the round makes contact with the bottom of the bolt. Forcing it to not feed smoothly, yes I can pull the mag down some and it will feed a little bit more smoothly but problem still occurs. The mag bottom is not making contact with anything that would be pushing it up while feeding. Also sometimes when I force my bolt forward to feed the round, the bolt will not engage. I have to pull the bolt back halfway extracting the live round and refeed, for it to work. I tried shaving down some of the mag lips with a grinder, but these mags are so damn expensive and I do not feel like ruining every mag.

is this a common occurrence?
anything I can do?

thanks

Rebed the bottom metal to get it further away from the action. Or maybe the wrong pillars were used. At any rate, Sounds like it's too close to the action. Take it to your smith..stop grinding your mag lips. LOL

This. Even if you shorten the lever, it will still travel up too far with any pressure on the magazine from below and bind up the bolt. I had the same problem once. Got my hands on some thrust shims and added and tried it until I found the right amount. Then bedded them onto the bottom of the pillars. Different thickness flat washers could be used as well.

I have CDI & PTG bottom metal on two of my Remington 700's using AI / ASICS mags in two calibers without any feed issues.

The PTG factory pillars measure :
1.074"
.721"

Make a couple pillars this length and try your action and bottom metal outside the stock. I bet it works if your pillar length is correct.
