AICS to AW conversion? Who does it?

Re: AICS to AW conversion? Who does it?

If your trying to have thos done to a 700 platform gun it's a lot more involved than the chassis opened up to accept the AW mag. The 700 action isnt designed for this as it is a single point action.

Re: AICS to AW conversion? Who does it?

MY AICS custom rifle was designed to accept both AI and AW Mags. You will need an action that is specifically designed to work with both of this magazines. My rifle was built by R&D Precision located in Glendora, CA. The action is made by Defiance Machine.

If you care to see a picture of the rifle, look for my recent post titled Custom AICS .308 at the rnage today.

Yes it can be done but it's best to do this when the rifle is being built. If you have a complete rifle it would have to be broken down to do the machine work.

Nothing needs to be done to the stock or bottom metal as it's all in the receiver.

This is the last Surgeon that I converted after I developed Guardian action with Defiance Machine that takes both AW and AICS mags from the get go.

Re: AICS to AW conversion? Who does it?

I have a Rem 700 with Badger bottom metal that was converted to take the 10-round AW mags. Lots of measuring and machining by my smith to get it to work but it feeds 10 rounds flawlessly. Obviously the advantage is that the AW mags are double stacked and don't stick down as far.
