I have a benchrest Remington XP100 chambered in .222 Rem Mag, Heart heavy stainless match barrel, Jewel trigger in a Lee Six stock. I am interested in changing over to an AICS stock. Can anyone tell me if this is a direct fit?

Thanks is advance!

The xp100 is 1/2" shorter OAL then the standard 700 action.

If a AICS chassis inlets for a model 7 action, then you're GTG.

EDIT: I need a verify. Is it the model 600, or the model 7 that the XP-100 is closest too.

If that's the case it won't work. Your lug wil be off and your action screw hole alignment may not match up either. That's just a guess. Only have experience with the 700.

I thought the XP100 is a registered pistol action, putting it into a rifle stock would be against some GCA '68 ruling wouldn't it? Whether it fits or not, you might get your ass in a crack legally. I'm not sure, but it's worth double checking.

I think its ok to go to a rifle from a pistol but not ok to go from a rifle to a pistol. If you buy an AR receiver in the pistol format you can make a rifle out of it, but if you buy a rifle receiver and build a rifle then its illegal to build a pistol with it. Same thing with the TC single shot lineup.

To the original question no it will not fit.

If you were to install any barreled action in the AICS (such as an XP-100) in its original condition with the 10.75" or 14.5" barrel (depending on model), then yes, you'd be violating federal law re: creation of an unlicensed Short-barreled rifle (SBR). If he was going to go to a rifle-length barrel (16" or longer) and install it in the rifle stock, then there would be no legality issues with doing that as long as the rifle barrel is installed prior to the installation of the AICS.

This is all hypothetical anyway because an XP-100/Model 600 action <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">WILL NOT</span></span> fit into an AICS.

Not exactly. They offered a repeater version (ADL/Blind Mag) version in addition to the single shot.

Re: AICS work with an XP100 action?

This is currently built as a single shot benchrest rifle using the XP100 short action. Was mainly looking to go from a full benchrest stock to something more tactical. I intend to keep it a single shot.

I will check with Mcmillan and see what they have. I know they do some pretty amazing custom fittings into painted stocks.

I never thought about the legality of it as it was built by Scotts Valley Precision and they were top notch benchrest folks that would only build it if it were legal.

Thanks All!

You have never, at least in this thread, made any reference to the length of the barrel that Scott's Valley Precision installed in your receiver. That is where the confusion is coming from.

Like I said before...putting any barreled action, with a barrel length of less than 16", into a rifle stock, is a violation of federal law without first having the receiver properly registered as a "Short-barreled Rifle" or "SBR". You cannot install a rifle stock on a "pistol" without subjecting yourself to the possibility of 10yrs imprisonment/$250k fine.
