Nothing but very old threads found.
    I have a complete ak

But the pre ban / post ban has me confused.
Date on left side of receiver is 1979
I understand that it may have been assembled and imported at a diferent date?

The other forums and gun sales sites seem to differ on the subject. In fact some call each other liers.
So I could use some SH guidance.
Have not decided on keeping or selling but has been a safe dweller.

A Wasr-10 is a post ban weapon imported with the ability to take a 10 round single stack magazine and modified after import by Century. There's a fairly informative Wikipedia entry.

I reread the Wikipedia but it did not help in determining date.
As in banned for date mfg or date imported and reworked.
Did cai import before the ban date or not.

It eluded to no imports made by cai of wasr 10/63 but to me did not clarify.
I may well be reading it wrong.

That's why I brought this old subject up. The verbage is vague as I see it.
If mfg date is stamped on reciver as pre ban date, then is it is or is it ain't?

We used to build a lot of these Romanian parts kits that had the 1979 stamp on the side of the rear sight base. Some had a red "G" also. As far as I know I dont think any WASR AKs were ever imported before 1989 which is what most judge as Pre-Ban if I remember correctly. Most likely the "parts kit" that rifle was built with was in fact of 1979 manufacture. But all the WASRs I've ever seen were post ban imports.

Most AKs that were Pre-Ban were Norinco or Poly-Techs. They demand a premium since some folks can only own pre ban rifles. But I would imagine that the parts your WASR is built with are 1979 vintage but imported in the last 15 years.
