AK74 jamming question

Just picked up a rifle the other day. It is a Romanian ak74. Was cheap but I knew it had a problem. The casing doesn't leave the gun every 2-3 shots. It extracts from the chamber just fine, but doesn't go flying off into the great outdoors. I played with it awhile and cleaned it all out. It hasn't been used much. I found the problem too. Now I want a solution.

Here is the problem. The gun started as a single stack. It was modified to accept high cap clips. When the bolt comes backwards it slides across the top of the highest casing in the clip. This pushes the bolt away from the metal bar that is supposed to hit the casing an knock it out if the action. So the metal slide doesn't quite touch the shell that has been fired leaving it in the extractor causing a jam when it tries to chamber the next round. How do I fix this?

My first guess was to add a little bit of material or maybe even bend the slide up just a tad so that it would connect with the casing when fired. Any suggestions? Thanks Guys.

I know this isn't really a LR gun, but I figured some of you must know your way around an ak pretty well, so I thought I would pick your brains. Thanks

Good call. Works flawlessly now. Thanks
